AskLoca — User Guide
Welcome to AskLoca! This guide walks you through everything you can do in the app and on the website, step by step, in plain words. Keep your phone in your hand and follow along. You don't need to read it all at once — jump to the part you need.
What the labels mean
- ✅ Available — you can use it today.
- 🔜 Coming soon — it's built and being switched on step by step.
- 🗓️ Planned — we're working on it.
How to read this guide
- Words in bold are the exact words you see on the screen.
- A path like Profile → Settings means: tap Profile, then tap Settings.
- In the form tables, Yes means you can't publish without it. No means it's optional.
1. What is AskLoca?
AskLoca is your neighbourhood in your pocket. It connects you with the people and businesses around you.
- Ask your neighbours anything — "Who fixes water heaters near me?"
- Find local services, products, offers and events.
- Book or buy from a nearby business, agree on the price, and follow the job until it's done.
- Sell or offer your own services if you run a business.
You can use AskLoca on the mobile app (Android and iPhone) or on the website at askloca.com. Your account works on both.
2. Getting started Available
The first time you open the app
- Open AskLoca. You see a short welcome screen.
- Choose your language: English or Arabic. You can change it later.
- Allow location when the phone asks. AskLoca uses it to show you posts near you. You can say no and pick an area by hand later.
You can look around without an account. To post, comment, save, like or book, you need to sign in.

- On the sign-in screen, tap Sign Up.

Confirm your email (needed to post)
You can browse right after sign-up. But before you post, comment, send an offer request or report something, we ask you to confirm your email once. This keeps fake accounts away.
- The first time you try one of these, the Verify your e-mail screen opens.
- Tap Send Code. We email you a 6-digit code.
- Type the code in 6-digit code and tap Verify.
- You see "Thank you — your e-mail is verified." Go back and finish what you were doing.
Tap Not now if you want to do it later. You'll be asked again next time.

- Type your Email Address and Password.
- Leave Remember me ticked to stay signed in.
- Tap Log In.

Manage how you sign in: Profile → Settings → Sign-in methods. Here you can Link or Unlink Google, Apple or Facebook, and Set a password if you want to sign in with your email too. You always keep at least one way to sign in.
Your location and mobile number Coming soon
AskLoca is about what's near you, so soon we'll ask every user, once, for their place and their mobile number. The Your location screen opens after you sign up or sign in.
Step 1 — your place. Pick one:

- Enter my address — if you don't want to share your location. Choose your Governorate, then City / area, then write the Street and Building number or name. Floor / flat and a Nearby landmark are optional. You can also Pin on map (optional). Tap Save address.
If you said no to location, you'll see "Location is off for AskLoca". No problem — tap Enter my address, or tap Open settings to allow location.
Step 2 — your mobile number. Type your Egyptian Mobile number (like 010 1234 5678). The people you deal with can reach you on it. It's not shown to everyone.
- We'll send a code on WhatsApp to check it: tap Send code, then type the 6-digit code you got on WhatsApp and tap Continue. Didn't get it? Wait for the timer, then tap Resend code.
When you see All set!, you're done.
Change it any time: Profile → Settings → My location. Tap Change location or Change number.

- Tap +. At the top of the New post screen you see the Tell Loca card: "Say it in one line — Loca writes the post."
- Write one sentence, like "Selling a used iPhone 13, 128 GB, with the box, 15,000 pounds". You can also add up to 3 photos. Tip: use the microphone on your keyboard to speak instead of typing.
- Tap Let Loca write it. You see "Writing your post…" while Loca reads your text and photos, writes the title in Arabic and English, and picks the category and details.
- The right form opens, filled in. A banner says Loca filled this. Fields Loca wrote show by Loca. Fields Loca couldn't fill show Needed.
- Check everything and fix what you want. Loca never guesses the place — tap Choose where it is to set the location yourself.
- Tap the publish button as usual.

10. Booking and buying: offer requests Available
This is how you hire someone or buy something on AskLoca. You send a request with your price, the business answers, you can negotiate, and once you agree you follow the work to the end.
Where to start
Open a service, product or offer. At the bottom you see two buttons:
| Post type | Main button | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Service | Book now | Send a booking request. |
| Product | Buy now | Send a buying request with a quantity. |
| Offer | Claim this offer | Send a request at the offer price. |
| All three | Contact | Calls the business if their phone is on the post. If not, it opens their profile. |
Contact is now Message — see Messages at the end of this section.
The main button is grey when you can't use it:
- Owner is not accepting offers — the business turned requests off for this post.
- Offer ended — the offer's end date has passed.
- On your own post you see Edit and Delete instead. You can't send a request to yourself.
Each post also explains the steps under How booking works, How buying works or How claiming works.
Fill in the request
The Send request screen shows the post at the top. Then:
| Field | Required? | What to write / tips |
|---|---|---|
| Your price | Yes | The price you want to pay, in the post's currency. Must be more than 0. The line under it shows the listed price, for example "Listed at 450 EGP". You can offer the same price or a different one. |
| What do you need? | No | Describe the job or what you want. Up to 500 characters. |
| Quantity | Yes (products only) | How many. Use − and +. At least 1. |
| Notes | No | Anything else, for example "best time to visit". Up to 500 characters. |
Under the form: "Your phone is shared with the owner only after they accept."
Tap Send request · (your price). You see "Request sent — … gets a notification. Track it in My requests."

What the request page shows
- The post, the Current price, and the round: "Round 1 of 3", "Final round — accept or refuse", or Closed.
- Negotiation history — every request and counter-offer, who sent it, and the price. Tap View Details for the full list.
- The buttons you can use right now (see below).
The negotiation rules
- Both sides can send a counter-offer with a new price and an optional message.
- There are up to 3 counter-offers in total for one request (both sides together). The screen counts the rounds.
- After the 3rd counter-offer, no more counters. The other side can only accept or refuse. The counter window says "This is the final negotiation round".
- A request stays open for 30 days. If nobody accepts it by then, it can't be accepted any more and shows Expired ("This request expired without a reply").
If you are the customer
| What you see | Your buttons |
|---|---|
| You just sent it — "Waiting for the owner to reply…" | Cancel Request, Counter |
| The business sent a counter-offer | Cancel Request, Counter, Accept |
| 3 counter-offers were used | Cancel Request, Accept |
| The business refused — "The owner refused this request." | No buttons. The reason shows in the history. |
| You both agreed (accepted / finalized) | No Cancel Request any more — the deal is agreed. |
- Accept opens Finalize Offer: "Accept the current terms and finalize this offer? Both parties will be bound to the agreed terms." You can add Final terms (optional). Tap Finalize.
- Counter opens Counter-offer: type the New Price and an optional message, then tap Send counter-offer.
- Cancel Request asks you to confirm. Tap Yes, Cancel or No, Keep It. You can cancel only while the request is still pending (before you both agree). After you agree, the button is gone; if you still need to stop the job, talk to the business — only they can Cancel work. If someone answers your request at the same moment you cancel, you see "This request was already answered and can't be cancelled."
If you are the business
When a request arrives you get a notification. Open it from Profile → Incoming offers or from the notification.
| Button | What happens |
|---|---|
| Accept | Opens Accept request. The Final price is filled with the customer's price — tap Use proposed price or type another price. Add a message if you want. "Your contact information will be shared with the customer." Tap Accept. |
| Counter | Opens Counter-offer. Type the New Price and an optional message. Tap Send counter-offer. |
| Refuse | Opens Refuse request. You must write a reason (at least 10 characters). The customer gets a notification with the reason. This can't be undone. |
| Finalize Offer | Shown after 3 counter-offers. Closes the deal at the current price. |
When you both agree
- The request shows Accepted and a green box: "Deal agreed at …".
- The box shows the other side's contact details when they're available. If you see "Contact details not available yet.", open the other person's profile and use Call or WhatsApp, or use Contact on the post. Make sure your own number is in Settings → My location so people can reach you.
- The business then plans the work: Schedule the work →. The customer taps Go to work tracking →.
Request statuses
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Pending | Sent, waiting for an answer. |
| Countered | Someone sent a new price. Waiting for the other side. |
| Accepted | Deal agreed. Next: work tracking. |
| Refused | The business said no, with a reason. |
| Expired | Nobody accepted it within 30 days. |
Messages — chat with the business Available
Talk to a business right inside AskLoca. Nobody has to share a phone number.
- Posts and business profiles show Message instead of Contact, Call or WhatsApp.
- Tap Message on a service or product to ask something before you book. On a business profile, Message opens your latest chat with them, or asks Which post is it about?
- Every request has its own chat. On the request page, tap the chat button at the top (Open chat).
- All your chats are behind the chat button next to the bell on the home screen (Messages). A gold number shows how many chats have new messages. Business accounts see Inbox with the tabs All, New requests, Active jobs and Done.
- In a chat you can send text, a photo (picture button) or your location (pin button). A location shows Open in maps.
- The request is pinned at the top of the chat. Accept, Counter and Refuse open the same steps as on the request page. Once you agree you see Follow the work and Offer details.
- Under your message: a clock while it's sending, one grey tick when it's sent, two grey ticks when it arrived, two teal ticks when it was read. Not sent · Tap to retry means it didn't go out. Tap it, or it goes out by itself when you're back online.
- For your safety, phone numbers are hidden. Keep talking here. Phone numbers, WhatsApp or Telegram links and emails are replaced with •••. Before you send one you see This number will be hidden. Doing it again and again sends the account to our team for review.
- Press and hold a message to Copy, Delete for me (only from your phone — the other side keeps it) or Report this message. Pick a reason: Asks to pay outside AskLoca, Shares a phone number, Spam, Rude or threatening or Something else.

My points Available
You earn points for being a helpful neighbour:
- Asking questions and writing answers.
- Getting a best answer.
- Finishing a deal (both sides, once the customer confirms).
- Writing reviews.
Open Profile → My points to see:
- Available to spend — your balance, your level and your Home district.

- My coupons — the codes you got, with how many are still active.
- Your neighbour rank — for example "#12 neighbour in Nasr City · this week". Tap it to open the Leaderboard (section 26).
- History — every line, with a plus or a minus. A coupon shows as one minus line, like "Coupon · 20 % off a consultation −150". How to earn lists what each action gives.
Points have no cash value. They come back off your balance if a deal is cancelled or refunded, and the history shows both lines. Choose your Home district here (or in Edit profile) — it's your neighbourhood for local rankings.

Edit your business later

- Logo (tap to change), Business name, Category, About the business, License number.
- Work photos — up to 6 photos of your work. Tap + Add.
- Location.
Tap Save. Changes to your name or description may be checked first: "Your business information change is waiting for review."
Switch between your personal and business profile
On Profile, tap Switch profile and choose your Personal Profile or Business profile. This changes how your profile page looks (your personal name and bio, or your business name and description). Your account stays the same.
Turn the business account off
There's no button for this in the app. Write to support@askloca.com and our team will do it for you.
Handle incoming requests
See section 10 ("If you are the business") and section 11. In short: Profile → Incoming offers → open a request → Accept, Counter or Refuse → schedule, start, update, mark as done → review the customer.
Business tools Available
Every business has a Business tools page (Profile → Business tools) where you switch on only what you need. "Nothing is shown to customers until you turn it on." Every tool is open now except Online payments, which shows as locked until it comes (section 37).
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| Appointments | Bookings by time slot, reminders, cancellations. |
| Queue by turn | Customers take a number, you call the next one (section 19). |

14. Business panel Available
If you have a business account, AskLoca gives you two modes in one account: your own (My account) and your business (My business). A switch at the top of the home screen moves between them, and the app remembers the last one you used. Normal accounts don't see the switch.
Today — your business home
When you switch to My business, the app opens on Today:
- Four boxes with what needs you now: New requests, Unread messages, Waiting for customer and Offer ends tomorrow. Tap a box to open that list.
- Today's jobs — every booking of the day with its time and status (for example Scheduled or In progress). Tap one to open it.
- Quick buttons: Add day off, New offer (section 24), Add service, Share my page, and Validate coupon (section 25).
- Your business rank — for example "#3 business in Nasr City · this week" (section 26).
- This week — what you earned this week (cash from finished jobs) and your rating.
The bar at the bottom has Today, Jobs, Messages and More.
Jobs
Jobs shows every request and booking in tabs: All active, New, Quoted, Scheduled, In progress, Waiting for customer, Done. Each tab shows how many are inside. Each card shows the customer, the service, the time, the price and a short hint ("Booked instantly", "Round 1 of 3"…). Tap the chat bubble to talk to the customer, or the calendar icon to see your Calendar by day or by week.
More
More has every part of your business in one place: Today, Jobs, Services, My products (see section 24), Rewards & coupons (see section 25), Messages, Earnings, Reviews, Calendar, and for clinics Queue and Doctors (sections 17 and 19). Under Business settings: Profile & documents, Working hours & days off, Tools, Clinic settings (for clinics, section 20) and Payments.
- Earnings — your total by week or month, cash, number of jobs, the average job and your top services.
- Reviews — your rating and every review. Tap Reply to answer a customer; they get a notification. You can edit or remove your reply.
15. Services and bookings Available
For the business: My services
More → Services opens My services: each service with its price, time, area and how many bookings it had this month. The switch on each card shows or hides it for customers at once (bookings already made still happen). Tap Add service for a new one, or a card to edit it.
| Field | What to write / tips |
|---|---|
| Name (EN) / Name (AR) | The service name in English and Arabic. |
| Category | Where it belongs. Tap it and pick from the list, as deep as fits, for example Education & Training → Teachers → Math (section 32). |
| Duration | How long it takes, for example 1–2 hours. Needed for booking by time. |
| Price type | Fixed, Per hour, From or Quote only. |
| Price | The price customers see. Not needed for Quote only. |
| Add-ons (optional) | Extras the customer can tick, each with its price ("Descaling +120 EGP"). |
| Area served | The districts you cover, or a radius in km. |
| Where the work happens | We come to you, Customer comes or Either. |
| Booking mode | Instant booking at fixed price (confirmed right away), Request & quote (you reply with a price — 3 counter-offers max) or Time slots, you confirm. |
| Photos, Warranty, Included / Not included | Up to 6 photos, warranty days, and what the price covers and doesn't. |
For customers: book or ask for a quote
On a service page you'll see Book now · 350 EGP, Ask for a quote and the Message button.
- Book now — pick a day, then a free time (only free times are shown), tick any add-ons, write your address if they come to you, then tap Book. Instant bookings are confirmed right away.
- Ask for a quote — describe the job, add photos, choose a time that suits you (Morning, Afternoon, Evening) and a budget if you like, then tap Send quote request. The business replies with a price in the request and in the chat; you can accept, refuse or counter — up to 3 counter-offers.
My bookings
Profile → My bookings has four tabs: Upcoming, In progress, Done and Cancelled. A yellow Needs you card on top shows anything waiting for your answer (an extra cost, a new time, or confirming the job is done). Open a booking to see its steps: Booked → Confirmed → On the way → In progress → Done.
- Reschedule — up to 2 times, before the free cancellation time.
- Cancel booking — free until the time shown ("Free cancellation until …"). Later counts as a late cancel. Once work has started you can't cancel — use the chat or Report a problem.
For the business: a job page
Open a job to see the customer (rating, jobs, and whether they ever missed a booking), the address, the price and quick buttons: Confirm / Decline (when you approve each booking), Start work, I'm on the way, Note + photo, Change time, Send quote, Ask to confirm. You also see the Reminders (24 h and 2 h before, to you and the customer) and an Internal note only you can read. Customer didn't come opens 30 minutes after the start time.
16. Clinic appointments Available
Made for clinics, salons, educational centers, tutors and anyone who works by appointment. Clinics can also have several doctors, special hours, a queue by turn, check-in and a waiting list — see sections 17 to 22. Centers and tutors: see sections 34 and 35.
Set up your times
More → Working hours & days off (for clinics it's called Clinic hours):
- Weekly hours — the days you open, the hours, and breaks (for example a break from 7:00 to 7:30). Nobody can book inside a break.
- Days off — tap + Add day off, choose the dates (or part of a day) and a reason only you see. Before saving, the app tells you how many bookings fall on those days. Those customers get a message with other free times — nothing is cancelled.
- Visit types — each visit type is its own service, for example Consultation 20 min · 400 EGP and Follow-up 10 min · 200 EGP.
- Booking rules:
| Rule | What it means |
|---|---|
| Patients per slot | How many people can book the same time (usually 1). |
| Booking open up to | How far ahead people can book, for example 14 days. |
| Minimum notice | How soon before the time a booking is allowed, for example 2 hours. |
| Free cancellation until | For example 24 hours before. |
| I approve each booking | On: each booking waits for your OK, and the time is held for 2 hours. |
For patients: booking a doctor
- On the doctor's page tap Book now and choose the Visit type.
- Pick a day. Days off, closed days and full days are grey; open days show how many times are free.
- Pick a free time. Breaks show as a dashed line.
- Write a Reason for visit if you like — only the doctor sees it. AskLoca keeps no medical records.
- Tap Book. If the clinic approves each booking you'll see Waiting for the clinic to confirm — your time is held for you meanwhile.
If someone books the same time a second before you, you'll see This time was just taken with the next free times to pick from.
17. Clinics: doctors and hours Available
This part is for clinic owners. A clinic with one doctor doesn't need any of it: leave the switch off and you keep one calendar for the whole clinic, nothing else to set up.
Several doctors
More → Doctors opens your doctors list.
- Turn on Our clinic has several doctors. Each doctor then gets their own visit types, prices, hours and days off.
- Tap + Add doctor and fill in the doctor's page (below). You can have up to 10 doctors (Doctors · 3 of 10).
- Drag to change the order — patients see the doctors in this order.
| Field | What to write / tips |
|---|---|
| Name / Name in Arabic | For example "Dr. Sara Nabil" and «د. سارة نبيل». |
| Specialty | Tap Pick a specialty and choose from the list, for example Gynecology & Obstetrics. Patients then find the doctor in that department (section 33). |
| Specialty / Specialty in Arabic | The short line under the doctor's name, for example "Gynecology · 14 years". Filled from the specialty when empty — edit freely. |
| Short bio / photo | Up to 500 characters. The bio and photo show on the clinic page exactly as you write them. |
| Booking style | Time slots (patients pick a time) or By turn (patients take a number, section 19). By turn needs the Queue by turn tool — if you see Queue tool is off, turn it on in Tools. |
| Minutes per patient, Numbers per day | Only for By turn: about how long each patient takes (for the wait estimate) and how many numbers you give out in a day. |
| Working hours | Same as clinic, or Use own hours for this doctor. |
| Visit types · price and time for this doctor | Tick the visits this doctor does and set their price and time. Leave them empty to use the visit type's own price and time. A visit the doctor doesn't do shows Not offered by this doctor. |
| Patients per slot, Gap after each booking | Leave them empty to follow the clinic rule. |
Your old bookings. When you add your first doctor, the bookings you already have are given to that doctor. You'll see "Your 5 upcoming bookings were given to Dr. Sara Nabil, the first doctor." Tap Change, pick the right doctor under Give them to, and they move. A time that clashes stays where it was.
Turning a doctor off. Open the doctor and tap Turn off. The app first tells you how many upcoming bookings they have. Tap Turn off and notify patients: each patient gets a notification with 3 free times to pick from (with another doctor too) — no booking is cancelled. Queue numbers taken today for that doctor are cancelled. The doctor disappears from your clinic page until you turn them back on; their details and hours stay saved. To Delete doctor, turn them off first if they still have upcoming bookings.
Your clinic day with several doctors
- Today shows Doctors today: who is working, how many booked and the next time. A doctor who works by turn shows "Now serving B-15 · 8 waiting" and a Board button.
- Calendar and Jobs have a chip for each doctor, so you can see one doctor or All doctors. Patients of a doctor who works by turn are on the queue board, not in Jobs.
Special hours
For Ramadan, a holiday week or an extra session. More → Working hours & days off → Special hours → + Add:
- For: the Whole clinic or one doctor.
- Pick the dates (up to 60 days), the hours (Opens, Closes), and any + Break.
- Add a Note if you like — only the clinic sees it.
- Tap Save special hours.
Special hours replace the weekly hours on those dates only. They can even open a day you're normally closed, like "Fri 6 Nov · 10:00–14:00 · Extra Friday session". A day off always wins over special hours. Special hours and hours past midnight work for any business, not only clinics.
Hours past midnight
Open late? In your weekly hours or special hours, turn on Ends next day and choose a closing time between 12:00 AM and 3:00 AM. Times after midnight belong to the day you opened. For example, "Thu 20:00 – 01:00: the 00:00–00:40 times belong to Thursday." Patients book them under Thursday too.
Days off for one doctor
+ Add day off now asks For: the Whole clinic or one doctor. Booked patients get "Pick another time" with 3 free times of the same doctor; other doctors are untouched. If that doctor works by turn that day, the numbers already taken are cancelled and each patient gets "Dr. Omar isn't in today" so they can take a number on another day.
18. Clinics: booking with a doctor Available
This part is for patients.
- Open the clinic's visit type, for example "Gynecology consultation". When the doctors charge different prices you'll see from 350 EGP. Tap Book a time · from 350 EGP.
- Choose your doctor. Each doctor shows the specialty, the price, the time and Next free: Sat 31 Oct, 5:20 PM. If only one doctor does this visit, this step is skipped. A doctor who works by turn shows By turn · take a number (section 19).
- Pick a day from Day · Dr. Sara's days, then a free time. You only see that doctor's free times.
- Tap Book with Dr. Sara · Sat 6:20 PM.
Most clinics book by appointment only — there's no Ask for a quote: "By appointment only — pick a free time. The clinic confirms each booking, usually within 2 h." Free cancellation is until 24 hours before.
If the time was just taken. You'll see "Dr. Sara is busy at 6:20 PM" and "This time was just taken. Pick another time with the same doctor:", then Or another doctor for the same visit with that doctor's price and times. Nothing is booked automatically — you choose.
If the clinic changes something. When the clinic changes its hours or a doctor stops taking bookings, you get a notification like "Pick another time — nothing is cancelled". Open your booking and pick one of the free times. If your doctor was turned off, you can pick another doctor.
19. Queue by turn Available
Some doctors don't use times: you take a number and wait for your turn, like at the clinic desk — but from your phone.
For patients: take a number
- On the clinic's page or the visit type, tap Take a number · today. You'll see "Dr. Omar sees patients 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM by turn", Now serving, how many are Waiting and Your wait (an estimate).
- Choose the Visit type (optional), or Not sure yet. You pay at the clinic.
- The app says "You'll get B-24. We'll notify you when 2 people are ahead of you and when it's your turn." Tap Take a number.
- Numbers open 2 hours before the doctor starts, so you can take one from home.
- One number per patient per day with each doctor. The clinic decides how many numbers there are in a day ("Numbers 23 of 60").
- The letter is the doctor, the number is your place: B-17 means Dr. Omar's 17th number.
- Too early? You'll see "Numbers open at 4:00 PM". Other things you may see: Paused — try in a bit, Full today, Closed today, "Dr. Omar isn't in today", and Next queue: Sat 31 Oct from 4:00 PM.
My ticket
After you take a number the app opens My ticket (later, tap See my ticket on the clinic's page or open the notification). It shows:
- Your number, big — Show this number to reception.
- Now serving, Ahead of you and About 25 min. The time is an estimate: "Based on the last 10 patients today (about 12 min each). It can change."
- The Visit type, Payment: Pay at the clinic, Where and Directions.
- It updates live by itself.
The near-turn alert. When only 2 people are ahead of you, you get a notification: Your turn is close — "2 people ahead of you. Please be at the clinic." When you're called, the ticket says It's your turn — "Go into the consultation room."
If you miss your turn. The clinic may skip your number: "You were skipped at 7:35 PM". Tell reception you're here — tap I'm here — show reception — and they can put you back in your place.
Other endings.
- Changed your plans? Cancel my number gives up your place. You can take a new number while numbers are open.
- Numbers still waiting at the end of the day expire 60 minutes after closing: "Not called before the end of the day". Tap Take a number for Sat, or Remind me Sat and we'll remind you when numbers open.
- If the doctor isn't in or the clinic closes the queue, your number is cancelled and you get a notification.
- When you're done: "Thanks for visiting Al Shifa Clinics" and Rate your visit.
For the clinic: the queue board
More → Queue (pick the doctor) opens the board. On top you see the day, "Numbers 23 of 60", the average time per patient, and how many are Waiting, Skipped and Served.
- Open / Pause / Close — the queue opens by itself 2 hours before; tap Open to start earlier. Pause stops new numbers, but patients who already have numbers stay and you keep calling. Close ends the day: "Close today's queue? No more numbers today." Patients still waiting are told and their numbers are cancelled; the patient with the doctor is marked served. Tap Close and notify 8.
- Call next · B-15 calls the next number and marks the one before as served. The patient gets a notification.
- Tap a number for its actions (only the ones that fit show): Call now (out of order), Skip, Recall (back to its own place), Served, Mark arrived and Cancel (asks for a reason; the patient only sees "Your number was cancelled").
- + Walk-in — for someone at the desk without the app. Type a First name (optional) and the visit type, and they get the next number: "Say or write the number for them. They see it on the TV screen." Only the clinic sees the name, and it's erased after 30 days.
- Two phones on the same board? If someone else just called a number you'll see "Someone else just called B-15. The board is updated — check before calling again." Nobody is called twice.
- On the website board, press N to call the next number and S to skip.
The waiting-room TV screen
Tap Open TV screen on the board. It opens a web page you can show full screen on any TV or tablet in your waiting room — no sign-in needed.
- It shows your clinic, the doctor, Now serving in big numbers, the next 5 numbers, how many are waiting, and "Take a number on AskLoca".
- A newly called number lights up for 10 seconds.
- It refreshes every 5 seconds. If the internet drops it shows "Reconnecting…" and keeps the last numbers.
- It never shows names, visit types or anyone's wait.
- It opens in English. For Arabic, add lang=ar to the end of the link (for example …/display?lang=ar).
20. "I've arrived" — check-in Available
So the clinic knows you're in the waiting room, without you queueing at the desk.
For patients
- Open your booking (or My ticket for a queue number). You'll see At the clinic? — "Let the clinic know you've arrived, so they can call you in order."
- When you're inside the clinic, tap I've arrived. No location is used.
- You'll see You're checked in — "Arrived 6:58 PM. The clinic will call you." Tapping again changes nothing.
Check-in is open from 1 hour before your time until 30 minutes after, for example "Open from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM". Before that you'll see "Check-in opens at 6:30 PM". It only opens after the clinic confirms your booking. Too late? "Check-in is closed — please tell reception".
For the clinic
- Tap Mark arrived on a booking or a queue number any time that day — for patients who tell reception instead.
- Today shows the Waiting room · 5 arrived, by arrival time, bookings and queue numbers together. People leave the list when they're served or done.
- A patient who checked in shows an Arrived 6:58 chip, and you can't mark them as a no-show: "Can't mark a no-show — they checked in at 6:58 PM."
Clinic settings
More → Clinic settings:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Check-in | Patients can tap "I've arrived", and you can mark arrived. |
| Call arrived patients first | In the queue, Call next picks checked-in numbers first. |
| Tell me when a patient arrives | You get a notification like "Salma Adel arrived · booking 7:50 PM with Dr. Sara". |
| Discreet notifications | Notifications and chat say "Your appointment at your clinic" — no visit type (section 22). On for clinics unless you turn it off. |
| Waiting list | When a time frees up, the oldest waiting patient gets it held for 30 min (section 21). Off until you turn it on. |
21. Clinics: the waiting list Available
Is the day you want fully booked? Join the clinic's waiting list. If someone cancels, the time is held just for you for 30 minutes, so you can book it before anyone else.
For patients: join the waiting list
- Open the clinic's visit type and pick the doctor and the day, as usual (section 18). On a fully booked day you'll see "Dr. Sara is fully booked on Wed 28 Oct" and Next free: …. Tap Tell me if a time frees up.
- The button also shows when the doctor is away that day for a day off. It doesn't show on the clinic's normal closed days, or for a doctor who works by turn — there you take a number instead (section 19).
- Choose who you want to see: Dr. Sara only, or Any doctor offering Gynecology consultation (you'll see the doctors' names and the lowest price, like "from 350 EGP").
- Choose the Time of day: Any, Morning, Afternoon or Evening — "Morning before 12 PM · Afternoon 12–5 PM · Evening from 5 PM". Times after midnight count as evening.
- Tap Add me to the waiting list. You'll see You're on the waiting list — "We'll notify you as soon as a time frees up."
It's free, and you can leave any time. Nothing is ever booked automatically — you always choose.
My waiting list
Go to Profile → My bookings, and on the Upcoming tab tap Waiting list (it shows how many you're on, like "3 of 5"). It has two tabs: Waiting and Ended.
- You can be on up to 5 waiting lists at the same time. If you try a 6th you'll see "You're on 5 waiting lists — that's the most. Cancel one to add another."
- You can join once for the same day, doctor (or any doctor) and visit type. If you're already on it you'll see "You're already on this waiting list." and See it.
- A doctor's list for one day can get full. Then you'll see "Dr. Sara's waiting list for Wed 28 is full" — try another day or Any doctor.
- To leave, tap Cancel → "Leave this waiting list?" → Leave. You won't be told when a time frees up.
- Ended shows requests that are Booked, Cancelled, or Day passed ("The day passed without a time freeing up" — it closes by itself at the end of the day, with no notification). Ended requests are deleted 30 days after they close.
When a time frees up: your offer
When someone cancels or moves their booking, the person who joined first — and wants that doctor and time of day — gets the time held for 30 minutes. You get a notification like: "A time freed up at Al Shifa Clinics · Wed 28 Oct · 6:20 PM — book within 30 min."
Tap it (or the Held for you card at the top of My bookings). You'll see "6:20 PM with Dr. Sara is free — book within 30 min", a countdown (left to book · Held until 4:10 PM), and "Only you can book this time until 4:10 PM — everyone else sees it as taken."
- Book 6:20 PM — opens the normal booking screen with the line "From your waiting list · held until 4:10 PM". The price, the clinic's approval and the cancellation rules are the same as any booking. Your request moves to Ended as Booked, and the booking is in My bookings.
- Not this time — gives the time to the next person right away. You stay on the list for other times, but that same time won't be offered to you again.
If the offer runs out
If the time runs out before you book, the time goes to the next person and you get: "Your offer ended · the 6:20 PM time at Al Shifa Clinics went to the next person. You're still on the waiting list." In the app you'll see Offer ended — "The 30 min ran out before you booked … You keep your place, and we'll tell you if another time frees up."
Passing or missing an offer never costs you your place, and there's no limit. You just won't be offered that same time again.
For the clinic
- Turn it on: More → Clinic settings → Waiting list — "When a time frees up, the oldest waiting patient gets it held for 30 min". It stays off until you turn it on. It works for doctors who use time slots (and for a clinic without doctors).
- Today shows Waiting list · next days: each doctor and day with how many are waiting, like "Dr. Sara Nabil · Wed 28 October · fully booked · 5 waiting for Wednesday", and the people by first name only, oldest first. Someone who'll see any doctor is marked any doctor.
- While a time is held you see who holds it: Held · Rana · until 4:10 PM.
- Calendar shows "5 on the waiting list" on the day, Slots · full day, and the held time as Held · waiting list · Rana · until 4:10. "A held time stays held while the offer is open, then goes to the next person or back to free."
- You don't pick. "First names only, oldest first. A freed time goes to the first person automatically — you don't pick."
- A doctor who works by turn has no waiting list: "No waiting list — patients take a number."
- Turning the switch off stops new people joining and stops new offers. People already waiting stay on the list (they can still see it and leave), and an offer that's already open can still be booked.
Privacy on the waiting list
- Patients never see their place in line, how many people are waiting, or anyone else's name: "We never show your place in line or anyone else's name."
- Notifications never name the doctor — only the clinic, the date and the time. The doctor's name shows only inside the app.
- The clinic sees first names only, never phone numbers here. Requests are deleted 30 days after they end.
22. Clinics and your privacy Available
Health is private. These are our promises:
- No medical records. AskLoca never keeps diagnoses, prescriptions or files. The only note is the optional Reason for visit, and only the doctor sees it.
- The TV screen and the public queue show numbers only — never names, visit types or anyone's wait. You only ever see your own ticket.
- Discreet notifications. Your phone shows "AskLoca" and a short line like "Your appointment at Al Shifa Clinics is confirmed · Sat 31 Oct · 6:20 PM." — never the visit type or the doctor's specialty. Queue notifications name only the clinic and your number. The full details stay inside the app.
- No location. "I've arrived" is just a button. We never read or keep where you are.
- Clinic notes stay with the clinic. Day-off reasons, special-hours notes, cancel reasons and walk-in names are seen only by the clinic. Walk-in names are erased after 30 days.
- The waiting list is private too. You never see your place in line or who else is waiting, and its notifications never name the doctor (section 21).
- Our team sees less. When the AskLoca team helps a clinic, patients show as a first name and an initial only, like "Mariam F.".
23. Extra costs and receipts Available
Extra costs need your approval
Sometimes a job needs a spare part or extra work. While the job is In progress the business taps Extra cost, chooses Spare part, Extra work or Other, writes what it is, the price, why it's needed and can add a photo, then taps Send … for approval.
You (the customer) see a yellow card in your booking and at the top of the chat: Extra cost needs your approval, with the agreed price, the extra and the new total. Tap Approve or Refuse. Nothing is charged without your OK. A refused extra stays in the list, struck through, marked Refused · not charged. If extras pass half of the agreed price you'll see a warning first. A job can have up to 5 extras.
When the job is done
- The business taps Ask to confirm.
- You tap Confirm it's done (if you don't, it closes by itself after 48 hours).
- The Receipt is ready — in your booking and as a card in the chat. It shows the service, add-ons, approved extras, the Total paid, Cash, the warranty date and before / after photos.
From the receipt you can Rate the service, Write a review, Book again (same add-ons ticked) or tap Something wrong? Report a problem within 7 days. The business taps Cash received when you pay.
24. Products and offers Available
Every business can show its best products (up to 30) with simple offers. It's your short list of best products, not a full shop: there is no cart and no delivery fees. When a customer taps Order, you get a normal request with the product, the quantity, a note and the price, and you agree pickup or delivery in the chat.
For the business: My products
More → My products (the badge shows how many you use, like 18 / 30) opens My products:
- On top: 18 of 30 products and how many have offers.
- Chips to filter: All, Offers, Sold out, Made to order.
- Each product shows its price, the old price struck out when there's a discount, and small tags like −16% until Fri, 2 + 1 free, Only 5 left or Ready in 2 days.
- The switch on each product is Available / Sold out. A sold-out product stays on your page, greyed, and customers can't order it.
- Hold a product and drag it to change the order customers see.
- + Add product · 12 left adds a new one. The icon at the top adds one of your old product posts (Add from my posts).
- If you see Your products are hidden — turn on Catalog in Tools, tap Turn on.
Add or edit a product
| Field | What to write / tips |
|---|---|
| Name (EN) / Name (AR) | The product name, for example "Stuffed vine leaves · 1 kg". |
| Photos | At least 1, up to 5. |
| Price | The normal price. |
| Offer | None, Discount (offer price + end date), Buy X get Y (like "2 + 1 free") or Limited time (needs an end date). Customers see shows how it will look. |
| Also post this offer in the feed | Shares the offer as an Offer post that ends with the offer. Needs an end date. |
| Quantity (optional) | Leave it empty if you don't count. If you set it, customers see Only N left at 5 or fewer. |
| Made to order | Turn on for things you make after the order, and write Ready in how many days. |
| Pickup / delivery note | For example "Pickup from Degla · delivery arranged in chat". AskLoca doesn't add delivery fees. |
| Show this product in the feed | Up to 3 products can show in the feed. The rest live on your page. |
Today also shows Offer ends tomorrow, Orders to answer and Low stock. New offer opens your products so you pick one for the offer.
For customers: order a product
- Open the business's page and look at Products or Offers.
- Tap a product. You see the price (the offer price if there's an offer), and tags like Made to order · Ready in 2 days.
- Choose the Quantity, write a Note if you like, and check the Approximate total.
- Tap Order · 2. Or tap Message to ask first.
If the offer ended while you were looking, the app shows The price changed with the new total — tap Order at … to agree. If the product is sold out or only a few are left, the app tells you.
After you order
- Your order is in My bookings (tap the Orders chip). The business sees it in Jobs.
- The business can Accept, Suggest a price (3 times max) or Decline. Then they can Set pickup time, mark Preparing, and Handed over.
- When you get it, tap I received it. Then you can rate the business or Order again.
- You can cancel before it's being prepared. After that, use the chat.
25. Coupons and rewards Available
Points can now be spent. A coupon is a deal from a business — a discount or a little gift — that you get with your points. The business pays for the discount, not you and not AskLoca. Points have no cash value: they can't be sold, swapped or turned into money.
For customers: Redeem
My points → Redeem has two tabs:
- Near you — coupons from businesses around you, nearest first. Chips filter by kind: All, Health, Food, Home, Beauty, Shop, Other. Each row shows what you get first ("20 % off", "Buy 2, get 1 free", "🎁 Free car wash with any service"), the business and how far it is, how many are left, until when, and the points it costs. If you don't have enough, the button is grey and says Need 260 more.
- AskLoca perks — Feature a post for a day (200 points: your post stays at the top of your area), +5 Loca uses (100: extra AI help on top of your daily limit) and the Neighbour badge (300: shown on your profile and answers). Perks work at once, with no code and no refund.
Tap a coupon to see its rules (which services, the smallest bill, first visit only…), then tap Redeem · 150 points. The Redeem this coupon? sheet shows your balance, the cost and what's left after. You get an 8-character code like 7K3M-Q2PD and a QR.
- One per person, single use. You can't hold the same coupon twice, and each code works once.
- A code is valid for the days the business chose (often 30) or until a date. Some work only at set times, like "Sun–Thu 12–4 PM".
- Changed your mind? Cancel coupon within 24 hours, if you haven't used it, and the points come back. After that, or if it expires unused, the points are spent.
AskLoca coupons come from AskLoca and work at several partner places. They show Accepted at: N places — tap it to see the list with each place's area and distance.
My coupons
My points → My coupons has the tabs Active, Used and Ended. An active code shows Ready to use (or On booking A-1042 while it's on a booking), the QR, the code and How to use:
- At the place: show the QR or read the code out. The business checks it and marks it used.
- In the app: pick it when you Book now or Order — the discount is worked out for you.
Use a coupon in Book now or Order
On the booking or order sheet, the Coupon box lists your codes for that business. Codes that can't be used here are grey with the reason (not your first visit, the bill is under the minimum, not for this service…). Tap one: you see Coupon: 7K3M-Q2PD · −80 and the New total, for example 400 − 80 = 320. You can also type a code under Have a code? and tap Apply.
- One coupon per booking or order. A second code replaces the first.
- The code is held for that booking. Cancel the booking and it comes back to you (until it expires).
- It becomes used when the job is done. The receipt shows a coupon line and "You saved 80 EGP with the coupon".
- Extras added later pay full price. A coupon doesn't work with an offer price, and with a service discount only if the business allows it.
- If the app says the coupon can't be used, tap Book without the coupon to go on.
For the business: Rewards & coupons
More → Rewards & coupons shows Live now, Codes issued and Used, tabs All, Active, Scheduled, Paused, Ended, and your coupons with how many were used. The switch on each coupon is Live / Paused (paused coupons are hidden from Redeem, but codes already given out still work). It needs the Coupons tool on — if you see Coupons tool off, turn it on there.
Tap + New to make a coupon:
| Field | What to write / tips |
|---|---|
| Title (EN) / Title (AR) | What the customer gets, like "20 % off a consultation". |
| Type | Percent off, Fixed EGP off, Free item, Buy X get Y (how many to buy, how many free, and which item if you like), Gift (like "Free home delivery") or Custom reward (your own words). |
| Points cost | How many points it costs the customer (5 or more). |
| Valid | Valid N days after they get it, or Valid until a date. You can add times, like Sun–Thu 12–4 PM. |
| Applies to | Everything, or only the services or products you pick. |
| Min order | The smallest bill it works on (optional). |
| Max total | How many codes you give out in all. |
| Valid from / to | When customers can get it. |
| First-time customers only | Only for people who never finished a deal with you. |
Every coupon is one per person, single use. Customers see shows how it will look. Changes apply to new codes only; codes already given out keep their old rules. End now stops new codes (old ones work until they expire). Cancel & refund cancels every unused code and gives the points back to each customer. Used codes stay used.
AskLoca coupons: if AskLoca invites your business to accept its coupons, a card asks you to Accept or Decline. Once you accept, the card says You accept AskLoca coupons, and you can Leave any time.
At the counter: Validate coupon
Validate coupon (on Today or in Rewards & coupons): point the camera at the customer's QR, or type the code and tap Check. A good code shows Valid with the customer's name (never their phone), the booking and the conditions. Tap Mark used — or Gave the reward for a gift. Otherwise you see why: already used (when and where), expired, another business's code, not accepted here, outside its times, or the bill is under the minimum.
Time-limited discounts on services
In My services, open a service and turn on Discount: choose Percent off or New price, when it Starts and Ends (up to 30 days), and if you like Show in feed as an offer and Customers can still use a coupon on top. Customers see a red ribbon like "−20 % until Fri 10 PM", the old price struck out and Offer ends in 4 days 13 h. The price is locked when they book, even if the visit is later. It ends by itself; End early stops it sooner, and bookings already made keep their price.
26. Leaderboards Available
My points → Leaderboard shows who helps most in each district:
- Neighbours — points earned in the period in your home district. Spending points doesn't lower your score; cancelled deals do.
- Businesses — completed deals × average rating, with at least one completed deal in the period.
Pick a district with the chips and a period: Week (starts Saturday 12:00 AM Cairo), Month or All time. The board shows the top 10 and refreshes every hour. Your own rank always shows at the bottom, even outside the top 10 — for example "Your rank #23 · 340 points · 50 more to pass #22".
Business owners are on both boards. Your business is on Businesses, and you as a person are on Neighbours too (counting only your community points, not your business deals). Today in your business panel shows Your business rank, and your business page shows both, like "#3 business in Nasr City · #12 neighbour in Nasr City".
Only names and initials show — never photos, phone numbers or points balances. Don't want to be listed? Turn off Show me on the leaderboard; your points stay the same.
27. Levels and badges Available
Your level shows how much you've helped. It comes from your reputation, not from points — you can't spend reputation, and redeeming never lowers it.
| Action | Reputation |
|---|---|
| Your answer marked best | +10 |
| Completed deal, confirmed by both | +5 |
| A review of 4 stars or more | +2 |
| You cancel a confirmed deal | −3 |
| No-show | −2 |
The levels are New (0), Active (50), Distinguished (250) and Local Expert (1,000). It's updated every night. My points → Level & badges shows your level, how far the next one is ("Distinguished — 180 / 250 · 70 to go") and your badges: best answers (1, 3, 10, 50), 10 happy customers, fast reply, top helper of your district for the month, and the Neighbour badge.
Your level and badges show on your profile, next to your answers and on the leaderboard. Your points balance stays private.

- Everything is still kept in the notifications list, even when the switch is off.

Notifications come in your language
Notifications come in the app's language (English or Arabic). A reply from our support team comes in the language you wrote your ticket in.
29. Safety and trust Available
How we keep AskLoca safe
- Every post, comment and business name is checked for bad words, scams and spam before it goes public. Most are checked in seconds. Some wait for a person from our team.
- Verified businesses show a badge after we check their documents.
- Your privacy: we show place names, never your exact home location. Your phone isn't shown on your requests until the business accepts.
Report something
You can report a post, a comment, an answer or a user:
- Post — press and hold the post card in the feed, or tap ··· on a question.
- Comment or answer — tap ··· on it, then Report (or Report answer).
- User — open their profile, tap ···, then Report.
The report sheet asks "What is wrong? Our team reviews every report." Choose a reason:
- Spam or advertising
- Scam or fraud
- Insulting or hateful
- Sexual or inappropriate
- Fake or misleading
- Something else
Add More details (optional) and tap Send report. You see "Thanks — our team will review it." When several people report the same post or comment, it's hidden until our team checks it.
If your own content is held
| You see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Under review (post) | Waiting for our team. | Wait for the notification. |
| Under review — only you can see it (comment) | Waiting for our team. | Wait. |
| Not approved + Reason | It broke our rules. | Edit the post to fix it — it's checked again. Or delete it. |
Safe dealing tips
- Agree on the price and details inside AskLoca first.
- Be careful with anyone who asks for money before the job.
- Meet in public places when buying items.
- Confirm the work is done only when it really is.
- Report anything that feels wrong.
30. Using the website Available
Everything you do in the app also works on askloca.com with the same account: browse, search, post, comment, send and answer requests, track work, review, and manage your business page. A few differences:
- On the website you can upload verification documents as PDF files too.
- Some of the newest features (best answers and voting, business tools) come to the website a little later than the app.
- The clinic's waiting-room TV screen is a website page, and you can take a queue number on the website too (section 19). The waiting list works there too: My bookings → Waiting list (section 21).
- Departments have their own pages at askloca.com/browse/service, with a link for every department you can share (section 31).
- Send feedback on the website is a card in Settings: pick Bug, Idea or Other (optional), write your message and send it.
31. Browse by department Available
The Services tab is now arranged in departments, like the signs in a big mall. Open a department, then a smaller one inside it, until you reach exactly what you need — a children's doctor, or a math teacher for secondary school.
Open a department
- Tap Services in the bottom bar. You see the Departments, each with its icon and how many are near you, for example Health & Medical · 41 near you. Near you · 259 at the top means everything near you.
- Tap a department. Its page opens with a picture (or a band in its colour) and the path at the top, for example Health & Medical › Doctors. Tap any part of the path to go back up.
- Under Sub-departments (for doctors it says Specialties) tap the smaller department you want.
- Don't want to go deeper? All in Doctors · 30 shows everything in this department and in every smaller one inside it.
Some examples of the way down:
| You need | Tap |
|---|---|
| A children's doctor | Health & Medical → Doctors → Pediatrics |
| A dentist | Health & Medical → Doctors → Dentistry |
| A math teacher for secondary school | Education & Training → Teachers → Math → Secondary |
| An English teacher for a small child | Education & Training → Teachers → English → KG |
| A center for languages, Quran or kids activities | Education & Training → Educational centers, then pick one |
What's inside:
- Doctors — 12 specialties: Pediatrics, Gynecology & Obstetrics, Dentistry, Ophthalmology (Eye), Dermatology, Orthopedics, ENT, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Urology and Psychiatry.
- Teachers — 8 subjects: Math, Arabic, English, Science, Physics, Chemistry, French and German. Each subject has the four school stages: KG, Primary, Preparatory and Secondary.
- Educational centers — School tutoring, Languages, Computer & programming, Quran, Kids activities, and Skills & training.
What the results show
The results come in two parts:
- The people first — for example Doctors · 2 within 25 km of Nasr City. Each card shows the name, the specialty, the place and how far it is, and the price from 150 EGP (their cheapest visit). Then when you can go:
- A doctor who books by time shows Next free Today 5:20 PM (or Tomorrow …) and a Book button. Booking opens with that doctor already picked.
- A doctor who works by turn shows Open now · 6 waiting and a Take a number button (section 19).
- Then the services — Services · 4: every service in this department with its price and time. Tap one to open it.
Prices and times come from the clinic's own page. Scroll down to see more. A business without a team still shows, under the services. Under Teachers you see teacher cards first, then Lessons — see section 35.
Filters
Tap Filters to narrow the results:
| Filter | What it does |
|---|---|
| Open now | Only places open right now. It follows the clinic's hours, special hours and days that go past midnight. |
| Available today | The next free time is today (Cairo time), or the queue is open today. |
| Booking style | Any, By turn or Time slots. |
| Price (EGP) | Min and Max. |
| Area | 10 km, 25 km (the usual) or 50 km around your place. |
| Sort | Nearest, Soonest, Lowest price or Rating. |
Tap Show results. The button then says how many filters are on, like Filters · 2. Each filter you turned on shows as a small chip above the results — tap it to remove just that one. Clear in the filters starts over.
When nothing shows
- Nothing near you yet — for example "No Pediatrics doctors near you yet. We look within 25 km of Nasr City. Try a wider area or see all Doctors." Tap Widen to 50 km or See all Doctors.
- Nothing with your filters — for example "No Pediatrics doctors with these filters right now". Remove a filter (Remove "Open now") or tap Clear all filters. Under Nearest match outside the filters you still see the closest choice, like a doctor who is free tomorrow at 11:00 AM.
- This department isn't available — it may have been hidden or removed. Tap Back to Services.
Find a department by typing
You don't need to know the department's name. In the search bar (section 4) type it the way you'd say it to a friend: «دكتور أطفال», "kids doctor", «مدرس رياضة» or "dentist".
- After 2 letters, up to 5 Departments show under the box, with where they are and how many are near you — for example Pediatrics · Health & Medical › Doctors.
- Tap one to open that department.
- The last row, Search all posts for "…", searches the posts like before.
We understand quick typing: «اطفال» = «أطفال», «دكتوره» = «دكتورة», and «دكتور» or «طبيب» are optional. «٢٤ ساعة» = «24 ساعة».
When your search clearly matches one department, the results show a Looking for a department? card. Tap Open to go there.

On askloca.com the departments open at askloca.com/browse/service: the departments are listed on the side with how many are near you, and you get the same results, filters and empty states as in the app. Every department has its own link you can share, for example askloca.com/browse/service/health-medical/doctors/pediatrics. Typing in the home search box shows the departments too.
32. Choosing a category when you post Available
When you post a service, a product, an offer, an event or a question, you pick its category from one list. It's the same list everywhere: new service, product, offer, event and the filters.
Pick your category, step by step
- In the form, tap Category. Pick a category opens with the main ones, for example Services · main categories.
- A › means there are smaller categories inside. Tap the name to open it. The path at the top shows where you are — tap it to go back.
- You can choose at any level. The deeper you go, the easier the right people find you. For example Health & Medical → Doctors → Pediatrics, or Education & Training → Teachers → Math → Secondary.
- Want to stop where you are? Tap Keep "Doctors" (it shows the name of the level you're on). The app reminds you "Pick a specialty so the right patients find you." — or "Pick a sub-category so the right people find you." — but the choice is yours.
Search instead of tapping. Type in Search categories — e.g. dentist. Write it the way you say it: with or without hamza, and words like "doctor" are optional.
Can't find yours? "Missing? Pick the nearest category above it — AskLoca adds new categories." You can ask support for a new one (section 36, Getting help).
Your old category. If you typed the category yourself before (in My services), you'll see "Was typed here before: "…". Now you pick from the list, so the people looking for it find you." Pick the right one and save. Tap Change to pick another category any time.
Only what fits you. You only see the categories you can use. For example, Doctors is only for clinics. If a category you picked is hidden later, it shows Hidden · your current choice only — your post stays live and visible as it is. Pick another one next time you edit.
Teachers and educational centers
Education & Training is for everyone who teaches: private tutors, school teachers and educational centers. It isn't tied to one kind of business — any business can use it, and a tutor who works alone, on their own name, can use it too. It doesn't have to be a center or a company. A personal account makes a free tutor profile in one step with Teach on AskLoca (section 34).
- A teacher: Education & Training → Teachers → your subject → the stage, for example Teachers → Math → Secondary. Teach several stages? Stop at the subject with Keep "Math".
- A center: Education & Training → Educational centers → for example School tutoring, Languages, Computer & programming, Quran, Kids activities or Skills & training.
For admins: who manages the categories
The categories are managed by the AskLoca team: we add new ones, rename them, hide them and keep them in order. Businesses can't add categories themselves — if one is missing, tell support and we'll add it. When we move or rename a category, the posts in it stay live and old links still open the right place.
33. Clinics: doctors' specialties Available
This part is for clinic owners, and for patients who open a clinic's page.
Give each doctor a specialty
- Open More → Doctors, then open a doctor (or tap + Add doctor).
- Under Specialty, tap Pick a specialty. Only specialties for clinics are shown. You can type in Search specialties.
- Pick one, for example Pediatrics. The app tells you "Patients find Dr. Omar under Pediatrics."
- The doctor sees all kinds of patients? Tap Keep just "Doctors".
- The two short lines under it, Specialty and Specialty in Arabic, are what patients read under the doctor's name, for example "Pediatrics · 12 years". "Filled from the specialty when empty — edit freely."
- Tap Save.
To take the specialty off, tap Remove specialty. You'll see "No specialty — saved when you tap Save".
Why it matters: a doctor with a specialty shows up when patients open Health & Medical → Doctors → Pediatrics (section 31), with the next free time and a Book or Take a number button. Missing a specialty? Contact support and AskLoca adds it.
"Our doctors" on the clinic page
Patients see Our doctors on the clinic page, grouped by specialty — for example Pediatrics, then Gynecology & Obstetrics — in the same order as the departments. Inside each group the doctors keep the order you chose.
Each doctor shows:
- The specialty chip — tap it to see every doctor of that specialty near you.
- When you can go — Next free … for doctors who book by time, or By turn · open for doctors who work by turn.
- Book or Take a number — it opens with that doctor already picked.
Doctors without a specialty come last, under Other doctors. If all your doctors share one specialty, the page shows one simple list without group titles. Other businesses with a team show their own title, like Our stylists for salons or Our team.
34. Teachers: for centers and private tutors Available
This part is for educational centers ("سناتر") and private tutors who want parents and students to book their lessons on AskLoca.
Choose Education
- Open your business setup: Profile → Business tools, then the Kind step.
- Tap Education (it has a New tag). "Education covers centres and private tutors: teachers, lessons by session, group seats, queue for review days."
- Answer How do you teach?:
- Educational center — "A centre with one or more teachers". Our center has several teachers is on, so each teacher gets their own subjects, stages, lessons and hours.
- Private tutor — "You teach on your own". "Private tutor = you are the business": there's no list of teachers — the lessons and times are yours, like a doctor with their own clinic.
- Under Suggested tools, Appointments is ticked ("Lessons by time and group sessions"). Queue by turn is there too if you want it ("Office hours, review days, registration day").
Education starts with: Confirm bookings · Automatically, Free cancellation until 12 h before, and Ask for a quote · On. People are called Teachers. You can change any of these later.
Add your teachers (centers)
- Open More → Teachers and tap + Add teacher. A center can have up to 30 teachers.
- Write the name, a short bio and add a photo, like you would for a doctor (section 17).
- Under Subjects and stages, tap + Add subject, pick the subject (for example Math), then tick the stages: KG, Primary, Preparatory, Secondary. No stage ticked = the whole subject, all stages. Up to 8 subject / stage pairs per teacher.
- The Title line (grades go here) is the short line under the name, for example "Math · Secondary 3 · 10 years".
- Under Lessons, tick the lessons this teacher gives. For a group lesson, set the Weekly group times (tap + Another time), for example Saturday 6:00 PM. Times start on 5-minute steps and end before midnight, inside the teacher's hours.
- Hours, days off and booking style (time slots or by turn) work exactly like doctors (section 17).
A teacher shows on the center page under every subject they teach.
Create a lesson
- Open More → Services and tap Add service (or open one to edit it).
- Turn on This is a lesson.
- Pick Group or Private:
- Group — set Seats per session (from 2 up to 50). Students book a seat in a session.
- Private — one student per booking, at any free time inside the teacher's hours.
- Where — tick one or more:
- At the center.
- Online — "You send the meeting link in chat."
- At the student's home — "Not for group lessons", and it "Needs a verified ID on this account · Verify now".
- Session times (for groups) — if a teacher gives this lesson, the teacher's times are used. Set times here only when no teacher carries them (a private tutor).
- Set the Price per session. Students see "from 150 EGP / session". Monthly fees and packages come later.
- Pick the Category, for example Teachers → Math → Secondary (section 32), and save.
Ask for a quote stays available for lessons. If something is wrong you'll see "Can't save yet. Fix what's marked in red."
Allow repeat bookings
In More → Working hours & days off, under the booking rules, you'll find Allow repeat bookings — "Students and parents can book the same lesson every week." It's on for education. The lengths (for example 4 and 8 weeks) are set by AskLoca. Turning it off never touches series already booked; they can still be viewed and cancelled.
Your day: group sessions, roster, walk-ins
- Today shows the day in one line, for example "14 lessons · 47 students · 3 waiting", and the Group sessions: each one with how many seats are taken ("14 / 40"), who arrived and who books every week.
- Calendar, Today and Jobs have a chip for each teacher. In Jobs, Weekly only shows the repeat bookings, and each booking shows its seat ("Group 15 / 40") and "Week 3 of 8".
- Tap a group session to open the Roster: every student with their name and grade (from the booking note), who booked, and an Arrived tag.
- Add walk-in — a student who came without booking takes a seat. The name is optional.
- Message all — "A message to every student booked in this session". It goes into each booking's chat, for example to say the session moved rooms. You'll see "Sent to 14 students".
"Teach on AskLoca" for private tutors
A personal account can't post bookable lessons. Instead, a tutor makes a free tutor profile in one step — same account, same sign-in.
- Tap Profile → Teach on AskLoca ("Free tutor profile · 1 step"). You'll also find it when you pick Teachers while posting, and in an empty teachers department.
- Fill in Your tutor profile: Name shown to students, Name in Arabic (optional), your Area, and What do you teach? — subjects with their stages (at least one, up to 8).
- Pick where you teach: At the student's home and / or Online. "Home lessons need a verified ID. You can list now and verify before your first home lesson."
- Tap Create my tutor profile. You'll see You're a tutor on AskLoca, then Add your first lesson — we suggest one for you.
Good to know:
- You need a verified email first.
- Already have a business account? You'll see "You already have a business account" — change your kind to Education in Business tools instead.
- Your profile may be Under review for up to a day; you'll get a notification when it's active.
- Undo any time: Settings → Business account → Turn off. Your lessons are hidden, nothing is deleted.
35. Teachers: for parents and students Available
Find a teacher
- Tap Services → Education & Training → Teachers, then a subject and a stage, for example Math → Secondary (section 31). Or type «مدرس رياضة» in the search.
- You see the Teachers first: name, subjects and stages, Group / Private / Online badges, where they teach, the price "from 150 EGP / session", and the next group session ("Sat 6:00 PM · 6 of 40 seats left") or the next free time. Then Lessons · 12: every lesson, including private tutors who teach on their own.
- Tap Filters to narrow: Stage, Lesson (Group or Private), Where (At a center, At home, Online only), Price per session (EGP), the area and the order (Soonest uses the next session).
Nothing found? "No Math Secondary groups near you — Try private lessons, or widen the area."
"Our teachers" on a center's page
A center's page shows Our teachers, grouped by subject. Tap a stage chip at the top (All, KG, Primary, Preparatory, Secondary) to see only that stage. Each teacher shows their stages, lesson badges, places, price per session and when you can go:
- the next group session, like "Sat 6:00 PM · 6 of 40 seats left" (or Full);
- Next free Today 6:20 PM for private lessons;
- or "Review day · by turn · 8 waiting" on queue days.
Tap Book (it opens with that teacher picked) or Take a number.
Book a lesson
- Open the lesson and tap Book now.
- Choose a teacher if several teach it. Any teacher picks the earliest free time across the center.
- Pick the time:
- Private — any free time.
- Group — only the group's session days and times are listed, with "6 of 40 seats left". A full session? Tap Tell me if a seat frees up: "One cancelled seat → one offer, held for you 30 minutes."
- Repeat — choose Just this lesson or Every week (same day and time). For every week, pick 4 weeks or 8 weeks.
- Check Week by week: each week shows Free, Full (tap Join waiting list for that week), or Skipped with the reason (center closed, teacher off, no session that day). Then you see the sum, for example "6 lessons will be booked" and "6 × 150 EGP = 900 EGP". Skipped and full weeks aren't booked or charged.
- In Student's name and grade write who the lesson is for — "If you're booking for your son or daughter, write the name and year here. The same note is sent with every week."
- Tap Book 6 lessons · 900 EGP. You pay at the center, each lesson on its day. If no week is free, nothing is booked.
Weekly lessons in My bookings
In Profile → My bookings, a repeat booking shows as one group, for example "Math Sec 3 with Mr. Ahmed · Sat 6:00 PM — Weekly · 6 of 8 weeks". Each week has its own status (Confirmed, On the waiting list, Done, Cancelled…).
- Cancel a week — Just this week: the other weeks stay.
- Cancel the series — The whole series: all the coming weeks are cancelled (and you leave their waiting lists). Lessons already done aren't touched.
- Each week has the same rule: free cancellation until 12 h before.
- If the center changes a time (a day off, for example), only that week asks you to Pick time — "nothing is cancelled. Your other weeks stay the same."
- Book again on a lesson opens booking with the same teacher, day and time next week.
Check-in and online lessons
- At the center: tap I've arrived when you get there, just like at a clinic (section 20). The center sees you as Arrived on the roster.
- Online: "Online lesson — no check-in." The teacher sends the meeting link in the booking's chat — open Message a little before the lesson.
- At home: the teacher comes to you; there's no check-in.
36. Getting help Available
Stuck on something? The Help center has short answers from the AskLoca team, and if they don't solve it, you can write to us and follow our reply right inside the app or on the website.
Open the Help center
- In the app: Profile → Help & support → Help center.
- On the website: go to askloca.com/help, or tap Help at the top of the page.
The Help home says "How can we help?" and has three parts:
- Search — type two letters or more, like "coupon" or "booking". The best match comes first. If nothing comes up, try other words, or tap Contact us — a person from our team will answer you.
- Browse by topic — Neighbours, Businesses, Clinics, Centers & teachers, Rewards, and Account & privacy. You only see the topics you can use.
- Popular questions — the answers people open most. The ones marked Pinned are the ones we think you should see first.
At the bottom, Still need help? shows "We usually reply within a day" and a Contact us button. Pull down to refresh — new answers show up without updating the app.
Reading an answer
Every answer is short and easy to follow. Under it:
- Was this helpful? — tap Yes or No. You can change your answer later. If you tap No, we show Contact us so you can tell us what's missing.
- Read the full steps — opens the matching part of this guide when you want every detail.
- Related — other questions close to this one.
- Share — send the answer to someone.
The "?" on screens
Some screens have a small ? at the top: the new post form, a booking, an offer request, verifying your e-mail, the business Verification screen, your clinic number, My coupons, Teach on AskLoca, the I've arrived card, and Delete account. Tap it to see Help for this screen — a short answer about that exact screen. From there you can vote, tap Open in Help, or Contact us. If we have no answer for a screen yet, there's no ? on it.
Contact support
You need to be signed in. Open Profile → Help & support → Contact support, tap Contact us in the Help center, or go to askloca.com/support/new on the website.
- What's it about? — pick one: Account & login, Posting, Bookings & orders, Payments & coupons, Business tools, Clinics, Centers & teachers, Safety & reports, Something's broken, An idea, or Something else.
- Tell us what happened — at least 20 characters, up to 2,000. While you type, These might help may show answers that fit what you wrote. Tap one to read it — your message stays where it is.
- Screenshots (optional) — add up to 3 pictures (JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 5 MB each).
- Booking or request (optional) — for bookings, payments, clinics and teachers you can link the booking or offer request it's about. You see your Bookings and Offer requests from the last 90 days and the ones coming up. Pick None of these if it's not about one.
- Tap Send.
You'll see Your message is in with your ticket number (for example S-10023) and "We got your message — we usually reply within a day." Tap View my ticket to open it.
Support hours: Saturday to Thursday, 10 am to 6 pm (Cairo time). Friday is off. If you write outside these hours, you'll see "We're offline now. We reply Saturday to Thursday, 10 am to 6 pm. Your message is saved." — and we answer when we're back.
Good to know:
- Report a Bug in Help & support opens the same form with Something's broken already picked. It also sends your app version, phone type and the screen you were on, so we can find the problem faster.
- You can have up to 3 open tickets and send up to 5 new ones a day. If you hit the limit, reply on a ticket you already have.
- If something fails, your message stays written — just try again.
My tickets
Open it from the inbox icon at the top of the Help center (in the app), or My tickets in your account menu on the website (askloca.com/support). A red dot means we replied and you haven't read it yet. You also get a notification when we reply — tap it to open the ticket.
Tickets sit under Open and Closed. Each one shows a status:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Sent | We have it; nobody has answered yet. |
| We're on it | Someone from our team is working on it. |
| Waiting for you | We replied and need your answer. |
| Solved | We think it's fixed. Reply if it isn't. |
| Closed | Finished. You can reopen it within 14 days. |
Open a ticket to see the whole talk. Our replies come from AskLoca team. Write in the box at the bottom to answer — you can add screenshots there too.
- Wait for our reply: you can send 2 messages in a row. After that the box says "Wait for our reply to send more" until we answer. This keeps your ticket clear and helps us reply faster.
- Solved: when we mark it solved, you'll see a note. If it's not fixed, tap It's not solved or just reply, and it opens again. If you don't answer, it closes by itself after 7 days (the date is shown).
- Close it yourself: tap ⋯ → Close ticket any time.
- Reopen: a closed ticket shows "Still a problem? You can reopen it until …". Tap Reopen ticket within 14 days. After that, tap Start a new ticket.
Report a problem on a booking
On a booking, Something wrong? Report a problem works like before — pick what went wrong and write what happened. Now you can also add up to 3 Photos of the problem (optional). Only you and the AskLoca team can see them; the business never does.
Your report now opens a ticket too. The booking shows Problem reported with the ticket number and Track it in My tickets — tap it to follow our reply. If you report the same booking again, it's added to the same ticket. (If you already have 3 open tickets, we still get your report and the card says "Reported · we'll contact you".)
Your privacy
- Your screenshots and photos are private: only you and the AskLoca team can open them. We remove hidden details like location from them.
- Screenshots are deleted 90 days after the ticket closes.
- Ticket messages are kept for 24 months after closing, then the text is removed. If you delete your account, your tickets and pictures are removed at once.
- When you contact support, our team sees your name and the app details you send — not your phone number or e-mail.
37. Coming next Planned
Here's what we're building for you, in order:
- Online payments — pay by card or mobile wallet, safely through AskLoca. Cash will always stay an option.
- Neighbourhood leaders — elect community leaders for your district who organise local activities and announcements.
We'll update this guide as each one goes live.
38. Frequently asked questions
Why can't I post a service, product, offer or event?
These types are for business accounts only. Open one from Profile → Business profile and tap Submit Application. Usually it's switched on right away. Until then, you can ask questions, answer, comment and book.
Why does the app ask me to verify my email when I try to post?
To stop fake accounts, you confirm your email once before you post, comment, send offer requests or report. Tap Send Code, type the 6-digit code from your email, and tap Verify.
I didn't get the code. What now?
Wait a minute, then check your spam or junk folder. Make sure the email address is right. Tap Send Code (or Send again) for a new code and use only the newest one.
Why is my post "Under review"?
Every post is checked before it goes public. If something looks unusual, a person from our team checks it first — usually within a few minutes. Only you can see it until then. You'll get a notification when it's approved.
My post says "Not approved". What can I do?
Open Profile → My posts and read the reason under the post. Tap Edit, fix the problem, and tap Save changes. It will be checked again.
Why is the Publish button grey?
A required field is empty. Check the tables in section 6. The most common missing fields are Location, Category and the price. For offers, the offer price must be lower than the original price and the end date must be in the future.
How many times can I negotiate?
Up to 3 counter-offers in total for one request, counting both sides. After the 3rd, the other side can only accept or refuse.
Can I cancel a request?
Yes, while it's still pending (before you both agree): open it and tap Cancel Request. Once the business accepts or you both agree, the button disappears. After the deal is agreed, only the business can cancel the work, and they must give a reason.
Can I edit a post after people booked it?
Yes. Editing changes the post for new visitors. Deals that are already agreed keep their agreed price and stay in Offers & requests. Even if you delete the post, agreed deals stay there.
When do we see each other's phone numbers?
Not while you're still negotiating. After the business accepts, the request shows contact details when they're available. Add your mobile number in Settings → My location so people can reach you. You can also use Call or WhatsApp on a profile that has a phone number.
Do I need the Verified badge to sell?
No. A business account is enough to post. The badge builds trust and helps you show higher. Upload your documents from the Verification screen to get it.
How long does verification take?
Usually within 1 business day. You'll get a notification. If a document is rejected, the reason shows under it — fix it and tap Upload again.
I can't find the right category for my post. What now?
Pick the nearest category above it — for example Doctors if your specialty isn't listed — and tap Keep "…". Then tell support what's missing; the AskLoca team adds new categories. See section 32.
How do I delete my account?
Profile → Settings → Delete Account → Delete. Your login and posts are removed and this can't be undone.
